Someone once said “All men are created equal” and though as a concept at the time a fairly profound one, it has been proven by ruling parties and governments over the years to be a fallacy. Even science has had a change in that simple statement back in the ’60s with test-tube babies. All men are not even conceived equally could be argued now… but I am already digressing.
Governments do not believe in equality if ever they did they don’t anymore.
If they did ALL education would be free on all levels of learning
ALL medical needs would be free, across the board.
Taxes collected would be used to support and care for the people they were extorted from…
and yes, people of the same sex would have the right to marry and have their union recognised legally.
It’s nothing to do with religious beliefs. If so why hasn’t someone done what other less – I mean MORE ‘equal’ people have done?
Create your own Church. It certainly worked for Henry The Eighth. If religion is the base of an argument (such as same-sex marriage) then a ‘Church’ is that preaches it is maybe needed.
A “Church Of Considered Possibilities” for example ( I am making this up as I type). This Church would be obliged to consider that all things ARE possible and give ALL concepts due and careful thought and deliberation and come to the conclusion that if no-one is hurt and that love peace and harmony are the products of the possibilities then, And only then would they be recommended as a Possibility worth believing in. If enough people believed such things then a new kind of ‘man-date’ could emerge.
At the end who knows (and who really care) how it all began? Is it really important to believe in a God or Gods? Is it not enough to believe that we are (capable of being) a compassionate, intelligent and humane species? Isn’t it time to start to protect nurture and love one another AND the planet that we live on. Isn’t it time we stopped seeing ourselves and others as just being units and resources to exploit? Shouldn’t we feel the same way about the Earth?
Something to consider. It’s quite possible.
