On November 1 in Fukuoka, Japan, southpaw Yuko Kuroki, 105,  successfully defended her WBC World female minimumweight title with a ten-round, split-decision victory (96-94/96-94/93-97) over Katia Gutierrez, who also scaled 105. Kuroki, in her hometown, defended her title for the first time since winning the belt be defeating fellow Japanese fighter Mari Ando. Kuroki improves to (12-4-1, 6 KOs) with the win whereas Gutierrez of Los Mochis, Mexico, drops to (19-5, 4 KOs) with the tough luck loss.
