Mercurey Clos Rochette

Blanc 2010 (Chardonnay)

Made by the Faiveley family from their monopole vineyard, Clos Rochette, in the town of Mercurey.
Wow what mouth full and that’s just the name on the label.

The nose of this wine got me hooked from the first sniff, lemon flowers
citrus a little Chinese spice and soft oak all that in that first whiff.

Plate: Lemon just filled the mouth soft and gentle / citrus on the back palate
finishing with a mineral wash as it glides effortlessly down the throat.

This wine needs food it drinks well, however its a little one-dimensional food really brings the best out in this wine.

I had an entrée of fish with a lightly herbed white sauce followed by chicken breast filled with French cheese.
The wine had enough acid to cut through the sauce and the flavour was wonderful to say the least with melting French cheese.

Michael Lillis I love my food and wine
