Masterful singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist K Ishibashi will be making his long awaited debut appearance in Australia this July. Performing under the pseudonym Kishi Bashi, he brings with him an ingenuity that defies the conventions of a classically trained violinist. He will play Sydney’s Newtown Social Club on Tuesday 1st July and the Northcote Social Club in Melbourne on Wednesday 2nd July. This first appearance in Australia comes off the back of his latest album, Lighght (out now thru Inertia). Taking its title from the one-word poem by minimalist poet Aram Sorayan, Lighght (pronounced “Light&rdquo continues and expands the sound of his critically acclaimed debut, 151a, which earned Kishi Bashi the title of “Best New Artist” for 2012 by NPR. Since the profoundly successful release of 151a two years ago, Kishi Bashi has toured relentlessly, captivating audiences across the the globe with his loop-based live show, and fostering a groundswell of devotees.
