The Al Kennedy Collective
Drummer Al Kennedy heads this fabulous quartet comprised of some of Melbourne’s most talented emerging jazz musicians. Craig Schneider is a multi award-winning pianist, vocalist, composer, arranger, educator and musical director. Tatu Rei
Formed in 2005 by Brazilian born David Chong, Tatu Rei is comprised of some Australia’s premium world and jazz musicians. Influenced by a concoction of some of the bossa and samba greats of the 60s and the contemporary jazz masters of today, the compositions are original and moving. Sung in Portuguese, David explains the lyrics, but the audience need no explanation to feel the beauty and passion in the music. Brazilian jazz at its best combining samba, bossa grooves with contemporary jazz melodies and arrangements. The music is precise, classy and a beautiful combination that leaves you wanting more.

Joe Chindamo
Joe Chindamo ranks amongst the world’s best jazz pianists and composers. His equal gifts as composer, arranger and improviser enable him to skate between musical genres with deftness and integrity, creating a unique music which eschews boundaries.
Joe is an artist who has done it all. He has performed and recorded with the best such as Shirley Bassey, Anne Sophie von Otter, Ricky Lee Jones, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Yvonne Kenny and Olivia Newton John, and worked on over 60 film soundtracks, providing the piano work for iconic Australian movies such as Pharlap, The Man From Snowy River II, Babe, and The Sound of One Hand Clapping.
Joe is routinely invited to perform at all the principal festivals, and a host of other venues ranging from house concerts to jazz clubs to the Sydney Opera House. Throughout it all, he has the rare gift of making difficult and complex music sound easy, coupled with the uncanny ability to make it accessable.

Kerberos with John Turcio
Gianni Turcio is a well known Melbourne pianist , arranger and composer whose Mediterranean and Latin music influences are clearly found in his vibrant, soulful and at times haunting compositions. His music bears the mark of his roots, being born in Capri, the magical island in the Bay of Naples, and raised in Beirut (Lebanon), another beautiful city on the Mediterranean sea., inspired by such great pianists as Michel Camillo, Chucho Valdez, Danilo Perez, and the collaboration of talented fellow jazz musicians Michael Rochford and David Rosa, “Kerberos” delivers strong and exciting performances, keeping listeners on the edge of their seats.

David Gardner CD Launch
David Gardner began playing the clarinet at the age of 13. It wasn’t long before he ventured onto the saxophone family of which he now performs on soprano, alto, tenor and baritone. At age 16 David began playing with local jazz bands. At 18 he successfully auditioned for the Royal Australian Airforce Band, going on to serve for 14 years. While a member of RAAF Central band he ran the Big band, smaller Jazz ensembles and was principal clarinetist in the Concert band. He left this organization in 1998 to concentrate on his career in jazz and freelance musicianship.
Dave has performed with numerous well known Australian musicains such as Don Burrows andJames Morrison, and international artists such asLouis Bellison, Joe Williams, Buddy De Francoand some of the original members of the Glenn Miller Band. Also David has performed on a number of occasions with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

John Montesante Quintet with Hetty Kate
Formed in 1990, the stylish, horn-led JOHN MONTESANTE QUINTET(originally called Workin’ & Steamin’) pays tribute to the Be-Bop era and offers a modern take on timeless Jazz Standards.
The JMQ features some of Melbourne’s finest Jazz players including regular lineup, Joe Ruberto (piano), Scott Lambie (drums), Dean Addison(double bass), John Montesante (trumpet & flugel), Jim Glasson (alto-sax).
With John Montesante Quintet tonight, the pure tone sweet sounding and dangerously infectious – English born, Melbourne based Hetty Kate will be performing at Dizzy’s tonight. Audience who have heard this leggy siren note the influences of classic Peggy Lee and modern day chanteuses such as Silje Neergard and Stacey Kent. Originally trained in classical piano and voice, Hetty Kate has developed her craft as a singer with not only a look, but a sound and depth that simply puts her in a class of her own
