2011 South Australian Grenache turned out very good indeed well this one did thatâ??s for sure, I had it with spiced roast duck and it was a marriage made in heaven I cannot express enough how the acid and fruit worked so well with this meal.
Pink musk stick on the nose at first that blew away quick enough followed by warm wood wafting from the glass that soon left and fruit took over
There is lovely soft acidity flowing over the tongue and working with each mouth full of spicy roast duck.
This wine is exotic both on the nose and the plate, with a great perfume of ripe fruit I have to say it again the soft acid on the finish is the thing that makes this wine so wonderful. It smells of spices like mace, white pepper hints of bay leaf in the background or that may have been the duck after a while I could not tell where the wine started and the meal ended it was just that good.
Great Australian Grenache give this wine a try next time you think a Pinot Noir is called for try a Greenock Creek Cornerstone Grenache 2011 it may just surprise you!
