The Over Easys done just Right

I spent a wonderful Thursday evening not long back at Renan Goksin's Eastern Star- Claypots seafood restaurant situated right on the corner at the front of South Melbourne market.

Look for this Entrance sign to the Market

This is a wonderful place for fine weather feasting as it is surrounded by outside dining areas on 2 sides and a courtyard style area in the entrance to the market. The long bar on the other side of the restaurant is were I was sitting to enjoy the yet to be uncovered talent of The Over Easys.

The music is quite delightful window back in time when life ran at a slower pace. The music of one's grandparents stack of 78rpm records brought to life by these 3 most entertaining chappies.

For the life of me I can't remember the name of all the musos, (I will hunt their names down) but I do the know the pianist. One Rob Furst, media mogul of the music industry with his stable of music and other publications and past local R&R demigod in the bands la Femme and Shy Boys, tinkling the ivories with a passion.

The banjo/mandolin player player leads the band with some awesome old style croonings and the drummer fills the air and keeps the beat like a metronome.

They seem to have a lot of fun and their music takes your mind back to a pleasanter time in one's life for those of a certain age. I recommend that you pop in one Thursday evening and drift into past.

That night I sat down to a mouth watering table of John Dory, Leatherjacket, shellfish, chopped fried liver and what for me was like finding an old friend, some of Ruba's beautifully well cooked green beans in a traditional tomato sauce which I having been searching for.

Thanks for a great night out Eastern Star!
