It is with a serious sense of incredulity and as big a sense of loss that we sadly announce the passing of Australian iconic musician -Bill Putt.
Better known for his brilliant and solid playing with his long time friend Mike Rudd in Spectrum. It was the beginning of a musical partnership between Mike Rudd and Bill Putt that continued right up to this tragedy.
Bill in Spectrum
A man of few words, he let his bass player do his talking, although when he spoke, it was usually loaded with truth and irony.
Bill Putt tends to save words, 'Ninety percent of YouTube is just crap.'
Bill's passing does not just leave an enormous hole in our hearts and in our music, but he leaves behind a veritable legion of fellow musicians, some fortunate enough to have played with him, some fortunate enough tared a stage, many fortunate enough to call him, friend!
He also leaves many, many fans who will find it hard to believe that we will never have the privileged and delight of sitting, listening and watching him play.
It is reported that Bill dies quickly from a heart attack, and whilst we all wish he had not passed, we should be glad that he would not have suffered.
The Toorak Times offers those who were closest to him, in particular Mike, our absolute condolences in this tragic moment.
Rest In Peace Bill - we all loved you.
