Six time Golden Guitar winner, Allan Caswell is one of the survivors of the country music artists who moulded country music in this country alongside the likes of Slim Dusty, Reg Poole, Slim Newton, Gordon Parsons, Reg Lindsay, Johnny Chester, Johnny Ashcroft, Jimmy Little, John Williamson, The Bushwackers, The Hawking Brothers, Smoky Dawson, and many others.

Allan Caswell was in good company in 1980 when he won his first Golden Guitar for Best New Talent with his song King of the Rodeo. That year Slim Dusty, Dave Pincombe, Reg Lindsay, Jean Stafford and Buddy Williams all won Golden Guitars.

Allan Caswell is a song monger, jingleman and performer and best known as the songwriter who penned On the Inside, the smash hit from the TV series, Prisoner.

Allan’s compositions have been recorded by the likes of Patti Page, Max Bygraves, Jewel Blanch, Reg Poole, Bullamakanka, Deniese Morrison, Johnny Ashcroft, The Rovers, Johnny Chester, Acker Bilk and many others.

This week Allan headed to the annual Mildura Country Music Festival where they host the Southern Stars Independent Country Music Awards. Allan said “In terms of size this festival is just behind Tamworth and in the top 3. The Mildura Awards are unique, apart from being independent. The quality of the awards and the artists was as good as you possibly expect. The crowd was huge”.

Allan’s latest children’s CD Just Kidding out sold all his country albums 3 to 1. Allan quipped “They are buying them for all their grandchildren”.

Allan was impressed by the new acts like Emma Barlow, Ryan Sampson, Stephanie Jansen and Kaylee Bell. “Luke O’Shea was stunning and deserved all that he got. I also enjoyed Mitchell Shadlow and Chrissy Thomas, the best female singer in the country.”

Congratulations to all the Southern Star Award winners including Luke O’Shea, Independent Male Artist of the Year, Best Album and Heritage Song of the Year.

Benn Gunn won the Male Rising Star Award, Kristy Cox, Female Rising Star Award, Jetty Road, Group of the Year and Tracy Killeen took out the Female Vocalist of the Year. Camille and Stuie also took out an award.

Allan is looking forward to Tamworth in January and the Lifeline Concert on January 19. Allan will release a new album Nine Tattoos in Tamworth, produced by Roger Corbett (Bushwackers).
Next month Allan will head into hospital for hand surgery.

With his recent achievements at the Gympie Music Muster, Lance and his band are taking it to the people and will be touring Australia in 2013. After four and half years in the making, March 2012 saw Lance release his solo album titled The Album which is receiving much acclaim and already being played over the airwaves across the country.

Lance is set to release a second single from the album Once a Month Weekend.
This new single is destined to be a favourite amongst the every day Australian who work long stints with the odd weekend off.
