New Releases

Recently, there have been some super new releases from the excellent Margaret River region in WA. They are all from smaller, premium vineyards making them quite limited.

Cullen Diana Madeline Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2010
Vanya Cullen converterted to Biodynamics and has not looked back. The vineyards are in excellent shape producing great fruit for great wines. The 2010 has already received some rave reviews.

Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
Another classic Margaret River producer. This year produced less fruit so, sadly, less wine. It still carries its consistent long-living style.

Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay 2009
One of Australia's top Chardonnays? This is not in the store yet but Jenny had a sneak preview of it and rates it as one of the best that they have produced. Pre-orders taken.
Wines of The Week

Blue Pyrenees

Still on super special prices only until Thursday 24 May 2012. Be quick!

Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
At our recent Pyrenees Cabernet tasting, we highlighted how good, but overlooked, the area is for Cabernet Sauvignon. The Blue Pyrenees Cabernet Sauvignon is an excellent example with exceptional value. A vibrant clear deep red colour with aromas of the typical eucalyptus, mint and blackcurrants. The palate has velvet-like blackcurrants and blackberries that sit over a base of chocolaty soft tannins. These flavours stay in the mouth for ages!

Merlot 2010
A Merlot with real style! Not only does it have the stewed plum flavours but also some lovely darker fruit and a good lick of French oak adding that bit of creaminess. The length is amazing. The mouthfeel is just great. Drink it now or put a few bottles away.

Shiraz 2009
This wine looks really good in the glass - bright ruby red. It has lovely "drink me" smell of clove, blueberry with an allspice lift and vanilla lurking in the background. It is not lacking anything in the flavour department. Blueberry, dark chocolate and vanilla bean sit nicely over the French oak. Great drinking now but it will reward astute cellaring.

Sauvignon Blanc 2011
The kangaroos like the Sauvignon Blanc grapes. It is good they left some as we like the wine! The splash of Semillon in it adds the lemongrass aromas that mingle with the tang of gooseberry. The gooseberries sit over a fine mineral base on the palate. Stacks of fruit!

Chardonnay 2010
Amazing value! All off mature estate grown vines and spent some time in French oak (1 - 4 years old). Great aromatics of white peaches, lychees along with cedar and a light toast character. Stoned fruit and grapefruit mingle on the palate giving terrific length and mouthful. A good medium term cellaring proposition as well as drinking now.

The reds are only $16.95 per bottle
The white are only $14.95 per bottle

These prices are super specials until 24 May 2012 or while stocks last.
