'Tis the season to be Riesling

With the Frankland Estate International Riesling tasting up in Sydney this week and the release of the Seppelt Great Western Riesling, it must be Riesling drinking time!

This great and noble grape variety is super versatile. It matches brilliantly with all seafood but will also work well with Greek style lamb and lighter - summer style - meats. Also great with most vegetarian dishes.

Some of our faves are:
Seppelt Great Western Riesling 2011 - on tasting this Friday! Come and taste for yourself how good this wine is.
Frankland Estate Rieslings - any of them! We still have some of the 2010 Isolation Ridge left.
Kate Hill 2011 - this Tasmanian Riesling is made in such small quantities that it normally goes only into restaurants. It is a beautifully structured wine that well deserves the Gold Medal that it received at the Royal Hobart Wine Show.
Grosset Springvale 2009 - small quantities only left. First in, best dressed! This was labeled Watervale. James Halliday gave it 96 points and Sarah Ahmed called it "A beauty."
I scream, you scream, we all scream for Riesling.
As we are celebrating Riesling - the Wine Of the Week is, of course, a Riesling.

Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Riesling 2010
Of all the Frankland Estate Rieslings, the Isolation Ridge is always the tightest and least giving when it is first released. With a year's age under its belt, it is opening up beautifully showing the minerality but also lovely citrus fruits. As the vines were planted in 1988, they are well and truly grown up enough to give the intensity of fruit that only comes with age.
The 2011 Rieslings were released just before Christmas so snap up the last of this while we have some left.
Great drinking at $29.95 per bottle
